About this deal

One of my concerns is angling’s inability to present a united front to all the people that are anti angling.

He has also produced design work for Pickering Fishing Association, Andrew Field Floats and a host of other fishing related clients whilst continuing to work with local client and advertising agencies.A few years ago we became convinced that it was high time that someone brought the Crabtree heritage to the small screen. We owe a debt of gratitude to Mark Kitson of Sovereign Superbaits for his contribution to Series 2 – here’s a man with an absolutely unsurpassable wealth of knowledge, and his insights were truly valuable when it came to targeting predators during the filming of Series 2.

This must have been 1969 as it was the start of term and I was eleven, just before my twelfth birthday. We start the session with some tuition for James at the fantastic Sportfish facilities and lake in Reading. He has travelled this country with fishing rod, sketchbook and cameras and is often found on his beloved river Wye. Author and presenter John Bailey is a lifelong angler, an original ‘Crabtree Kid’, and one of today’s most internationally renowned fishermen and guides. My favourite place is the Royalty fishery on the Hampshire Avon where to catch a 16lb plus Barbel would be the highlight of my fishing career.Further TV series and specials will continue to bring quality angling TV programmes, providing great entertainment, offering education and advice to seasoned and new anglers alike and delivering all the positives of fishing to a wider TV audience. I will never forget taking a barbel into the scale room – now the Rod Room – on the Royalty Fishery and wondering if they were the same scales where Mr Crabtree weighed his 6lb chub – before killing it and taking it home to put behind glass!

In this episode John and James try out some real Crabtree float fishing in the Lily pads, as well as more current techniques and get into some really exceptional specimens. Fishing is absolutely the most worthwhile thing to do and if Crabtree can convince people of that then it will have served the sport well. Photograph Is Added By Selling Site And Not Ours, Therefore May Not Reflect This Edition Or Condition.A stunning conclusion to James’ and John’s summer scrapbook and a great way to round off Series two of Fishing in the Footsteps of Mr. I still use “Crabtree” methods to this day, you can’t beat “keeping it simple” A float, a couple of shot and a hook, with a worm on the end, will always get you a good tench or a nice perch and surprise, surprise even a good carp ! Crabtree inspired all of us in our formative angling years to fish through the seasons for proper fish. This first series saw presenter John Bailey, [4] an internationally renowned fishing guide, fishing and walking in the footsteps of his angling hero, Mr.

I always found him to be a really nice chap, funny and direct and full of enthusiasm for all things fishing and especially in helping and teaching others. Many of the Crabtree tricks and techniques were cutting edge at the time and, in marrying up old and new, we’ll also be demonstrating the evolution of angling and what has, and has not changed. I must have read them a hundred times if not more, then one day my next door neighbour informed my parents that Bernard Venables was coming to Crawley Collage for some reason and would I like to meet him. Most of my fishing now is carried out with a camera crew but I have two weeks every spring in Key West, Florida with my mates on our Boys’ Trip. In this series John is fishing with 13 year old James Buckley, a great young angler, as they fish throughout the Summer. We reflect upon the highlights of a great summer’s fishing adventure and enjoy plenty more action as well as some of the best moments of the series. Crabtree is what we’re all about – and our book and TV series of the same name are the first steps we’ve taken to illustrate this. I will fish for ANYTHING – literally anything … coarse, sea, game – they all excite me and my preferred method whatever the species is when I can watch them take the bait, strike – BOSH!
