And last, but not least: anything you listen, no matter how quite the volume is, will be audiable for surrounding people. Enough about me, I've had this headphone for a few weeks now and after 50+ hours of burn in and constant use I am happy to share my experience.I had to ditch my Audio-Technica ATH-M50 in favor of this open-back model because of my chronic otitis (wearing closed-back M-50 during the day didn't help the treatment at all). A mini-XLR connector is included, ensuring replacing your cable is fast and efficient, while an additional coiled cable and a premium carrying bag have also been added to the mix. Isn't good for rock or metal - again subjective, but here's what I think, there are a lot of badly mastered rock songs out there.

Still… by itself a nice sounding headphone but just below flagship performance in the treble area only. I stopped listening to music regularly and for a long time I didn't realize that the X1 was to blame! The 100 Hz to 3 kHz stays within 2dB, and the increase in higher frequencies reaches only a relatively moderate 5dB, beating one of its main rivals Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro.The better the amp's ability to deliver - the better the overall bass response and frequency overall should be.

Left and right seem further away than central – and because of this it sometimes feels there are gaps in the image to the left and right of center. If I could get the K612 sound, in the K702 body (complete with removable cable), staying with the K612 pads and headband though, I would be completely happy. I'm a beginner when it comes to purchasing this type of headphones but I could not be happier that I went with these AKG's. It's quite accurate but can have sibilance issues with some recordings and systems and some systems the 2-4khz region may be a bit too present which can lead the headphone to sound a bit hard and dry on some systems.That being said I could drive it from moderate to ear bleeding levels from 11 to 12'oclock on the volume knob. The K-612 sounds clear and transparent, with effortless performance even in the very low bass regions, but the high frequencies are smoother and less aggressive than on the K-701.
