About this deal

JB: Truthfully, they were all fun to create because I got to let my imagination run wild. I loved inventing Amaros Ba’s realm because he’s a fictional hero from the future, so I could add lots of odd details that didn’t necessarily need to make sense. His realm is set in a desert marketplace where traders sell all sorts of wares including timefritters – deep fried balls of swirling pink gas that explode in your mouth when you eat them. Arthur, Ren and Cecily have nothing in common apart from the same school they all attend and their ability to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. An explosion occurs on an otherwise quiet street and the trio investigate where it stemmed from, and to possibly rescue the howling creature they can hear from an abandoned home as well. They find a fluffy, white dog inside. And, also, an entire other world. Finally, I must say that the cover of the book (expertly produced by Paddy Donnelly) really captures the feel of the adventure within, with its bright colours and depictions of the different realms the trio might find themselves in. The motto of Wonderscape is ‘TRAVEL WITH WONDER’ – I certainly did, and would love to do it all again.

Hello everybody. Today I have for you a non-spoilery review of Jennifer Bell’s middle grade book Wonderscape, followed by an interview with the author. Education Shed Ltd, Severn House, Severn Bridge, Riverside North, Bewdley, Worcestershire, UK, DY12 1AB Again, there are SPOILERS here please be aware. The dragon in question today is Cloud, and she's a robot.

When you’re running late for school, the last thing you need is an explosion – but that’s exactly what Arthur, Ren and Cecily get.

The realms are cleverly crafted, with each themed around a different hero from human history. Although I wish I could explore the world more, I’m not entirely sure I would be up to the challenges! QaS: In the game, the different levels that players can visit are called realms, and each one has its own unique theme. What was your favorite realm to create? One aspect of the book which I really enjoyed and liked was how there were different realms and in each realm there was a different story each time as well as adding the historical figure as well. Size - Described as the size of a lorry, with eight-metre wings. Might sound big, but not for a dragon. (5/10)

Hvad pokker!

The tension builds as they deal with not only the trials that they must complete to progress, but also with their confusion and frustration navigating these unknown and unusual realms. On top of this, they must contend with the different aspirations of the siblings who run HXPERION and their desire to do whatever necessary to keep Wonderscape at the top… Wonderscape is pitched as a middle-grade Jumanji meets Ready Player One, and although I'm not too familiar with the latter, I can definitely see how this comparison is drawn. Our three main characters, Arther, Ren, and Cecily are spontaneously transported to an In-Reality-Adventure-Game 400 years in the future and must complete the levels to meet the heroes and work out how to get home before their time runs out. But there's so much more to it than that, and the complexity of this world and the details written in blew me away. Handcrafted, interactive, tactile, elemental products focused on imaginative play to support your journey to wellbeing.I enjoyed this book and I liked the mix of creativity and history behind it. I really enjoyed the idea the author had done and how they brought it together. I think it was well writtenbut at some points a bit too much was going on at the same time. Nonetheless I enjoyedthe book and the history within the characters. Well-managed schedule and timing: The company has created a specific and well-maintained itinerary. At each destination, we had enough time to explore and enjoy without feeling rushed. You're now part of the Wondercade family. (It's like the mafia, only with less murder. But equally delicious pasta dishes.) Boom. Welcome. Parts of Wonderscape also gave me Marvel movie vibes. You think you know what the story is, but then another plot is revealed and the stakes get even higher. We read the second half of Wonderscape in one sitting for that exact reason: when you realise there’s more to the story than just getting the three main characters home safely, you need to know how it’s going to end.
