Not all pots are created equal. Some will last many years. I've got a pro-grade radio audio board with pots that was made in the 70s and used daily at a radio station until the late 90s and the pots still work perfectly. Others, like the pot on the twist axis of my Thrustmaster, won't even make it 9 months. I loaded and activated the 747 profiles and it seems to work in the B747-400 as well as the B747-8 expansion. There is still some resistance on the pitch axis due to mechanical drag inside the yoke mechanism. To have bit better balancing of pitch and roll axis I replaced the roll bungee with a much weaker rubber band. I can't find specific aircraft profiles anywhere. When I select settings>Import Profiles>select file in the configurator, I'm pointed to ...Honeycomb>bin>honeycomb_profiles. In that folder is one generic PMDG.json file. That file has a template for 47 buttons but no enties for any of the buttons. High quality pots are fine and from what I understand (but have never verified) is that the original alpha uses more premium pots. HESs however allow higher resolutions and longevity.
