About this deal

The Jura A1 comes with both a monitored drip tray and an integrated rinsing, cleaning and descaling program. A good place to start when reviewing a super automatic espresso machine, how good is the coffee quality produced? After all it is the whole point of this coffee machine! Clean out your coffee machine at the end of the day. Dispose of spent grounds, flush the internal system through with water, then drain and clean the drip tray. This will ensure that nothing is left stagnant overnight.

The A1 could be considered the "baby" of the Jura range - although it's certainly not cheap even by bean-to-cup standards. It's a stylish model with a contemporary design - and is the only Jura machine to make it onto our list of the top 10 bean-to-cup coffee machines. So what makes this model stand out? Some more expensive coffee machines connect to an app, so you can make a coffee without having to get out of bed — provided you have enough beans and water in the tank, and a mug ready under the spout. Automatic cleaning programmes Another of our favourite models from Jura is the J6. It's the most expensive model on this list, but has a beautiful design and is capable of brewing outstanding espresso. It can also produce a wide range of milky coffees, such as latte macchiato, cappuccino and a flat white.Another way for you to influence the extraction process is to change the grind size with the adjustable grinder, choosing a finer grind if you prefer a stronger and more bitter coffee or slightly coarser for a faster extraction and a weaker shot. ( 3) The bypass doser means even more possibilities, allowing you to use decaf and pre-ground coffee. Once these were sorted, it consistently produced some of the highest quality milk textures we tasted for drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. It’s ideal for coffee aficionados who want a fuss-free drink while maintaining control over their cuppa. The pulse extraction process (P.E.P.) is something you wont find on other brands, this is a method of brewing where the water is pressed through the brew unit in short bursts, which fully optimises the extraction time. Jura machines come with a display system that notifies users of problems such as “missing tray” or “bean cover is not fitted.” However, it also displays error messages, signaling something a bit more than a routine fix. The "error 2" and "error 5" are two of the most common error messages that flash on its display. The Jura A1 control panel also has warning lights for descaling and cleaning. So you don’t need to worry about forgetting and damaging it.

n.d.). (2018, March 13). European Coffee Expo ‘Exhibitor Spotlight’: JURA UK. Retrieved from https://beveragebusinessworld.com/latest-news/european-coffee-expo-exhibitor-spotlight-jura-uk-13-03-2018/ They’re surprisingly simple to use and will carry out most tasks with just the touch of a button — making them the kings of convenience in your search for barista-quality coffee at home. The in-built grinders reduce coffee beans to grounds from which the machine can extract the flavour to make an espresso. Ultimately, it’s hard to recommend one of these machines over the other. They have a very similar, minimalist menu of available beverages. Either machine will satisfy a coffee aficionado who only wants regular coffee or espresso but wants it to be great every time. Nespresso machines are best for people with little skills or interest in coffee making. Many people just want coffee in the morning. And fast. Both machines are a large investment, so it’s good to know they should last at least 7-10 years with proper maintenance.

Additionally, the model has a 1.1 litre water tank, zero-energy switch and a one-touch operation. It's also twice as fast as the G3 grinder, can be programmed to three different coffee specialities, and can use either pre-ground or fresh coffee beans. Everything from the water tank to the drip tray feels like it’s been well put together and your money isn’t disappearing into the profit margin of a shoddy manufacturer. All Jura machines are made in Europe. Now since some of the most advanced tech we use is made in Asia these days, like most Apple products, for example, I don’t buy into “built in Europe means better quality”. Build quality comes from the standards of the manufacturer, this is where Jura stands out as exceptional. Irrespective of where the coffee machines are made. Small Size not an Issue While it is true the A1 is not the cheapest espresso machine, when you consider the vast array of features you get, then can’t help but be impressed. The Jura A1 comes with a symbol text display which only allows you to see symbols of functionality and also displays any maintenance alerts.

Secondly if you are a big household or office you may want to consider a larger machine. The Jura A1 is a single cup coffee machine. Meaning it can only make 1 coffee at a time. In addition the bean hopper and water tank are really only enough for 1 or 2 people. The last thing you want is to be topping these up daily. It does feature an adjustable nozzle for different cup size, but doesn’t have a setting for a regular cup of coffee. A super automatic espresso machine with no milk frother? Seems a ridiculous concept but the very clever people over at Jura felt it was worth doing when they designed the Jura A1 espresso machine. Jura know quite a bit about top-end espresso machines too. There are no concerns over forgetting to switch the machine off after use either, thanks to the patented zero-energy switch. So, after around five minutes idle, the brightness of the symbols lowers to indicate the machine has entered that setting ensuring high energy efficiency. Maintenance

T he Jura A1 has now been discontinued in some countries, but is still available from some alternative vendors or as a refurbished model. This is another Jura machine built for espresso only. It is more compact than the A1 and is more stylish. There is also more scope for customization, and its build uses better-quality materials. Like the A1, it also has Pulse Extraction Process PEP technology with the Aroma G3 grinder. Also, it has 3D brewing technology for a more even grounds extraction and is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can control it with the J.O.E. app via a smartphone. Overall, it’s an upgrade on the A1, but it is more expensive. Our Verdict

Enjoy delicious, coffee perfection with the Jura A1 Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine. The slimline one-cup machine delivers quality, speciality coffee in no time. Ultra compact, the Jura A1 is designed be as small as possible whilst delivering perfect coffee, espresso and ristretto. Morecoffee strength settingsand the ability to adjust the brew temperature and water temperature are all great, it also connects to their app so all this can be done on your phone and drinks can be saved to your profile. Which is cool. The coffee isn’t really any better than the A1 though, it also uses an older version of their grinder as it’s an older model. Issues with the D6

Great coffee is fast becoming a must have home essential, and for the coffee purists out there who like it straight up, a super automatic espresso machine is the maker of choice. This Jura A1 review will let you know if this is the one for you. On some Jura models, you can brew two different drinks at a time, like espresso and cappuccino, so both of you can have the preferred drink ready at the same time The J6 has a range of other features. These include a redesigned storage system, allowing you to store the milk pipe and spout out of sight but within easy reach, and a variable brewing chamber. The water filtration system can also automatically detect the water filter using RFID technology. Other features include the company's Pulse Extraction Process for optimal extraction times, a faster version of the Aroma G3 grinder, and "fine foam" technology. With the Jura A1 you have three drink choices: a ristretto, a classic espresso or a larger cup of coffee. The main aim of this machine is to provide a convenient, hands-free experience for the user by using Jura’s latest brewing technology.
