About this deal

This role in supporting new oak growth has also been highlighted in the results of a long-term study into natural regeneration. The research first started 60 years ago and was carried out on two agricultural fields close to Monks Wood National Nature Reserve in Cambridgeshire, an ancient woodland first recorded in 1279. The older field was full of barley until 1961, the other was grassland and abandoned in 1996. “We decided to just let it go and watch what happens,” explains ecologist Dr Richard Broughton from the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, which has taken on the research. “It was the start of passive rewilding.” By burying thousands of acorns each year, the jay is playing a crucial role in passive rewilding/ Credit: Getty Images In the UK, the law around killing jays is opaque at best. They are still part of a Defra general licence on wildlife management, although they can only be killed on a conservation basis if they are predating a set list of other woodland birds, including willow tits and wood warblers. Yet there is no onus on the shooter to provide proof or justification for the killing and little appetite by the authorities to investigate any illegal shooting. All Jays T-Jays (1-2-3 and 4) have the same astonishing and simple “Slimline” design but the materials used are different. They’re actually quite cool looking, very small & light and can be worn both normal as over the ear. Each T-Jays has its own extension cord and I have to admit this actually came in very handy. Basically you can choose between a standard cable length of 60cm, and an extension cable giving you a further 70cms to play with. The UK has a stable population of around 170,000 pairs of breeding jays and on average they live for four years, although the oldest ringed bird was over 16 years old. The most colourful bird in the corvid or crow family, jays have vibrant pink and punky blue colouring. Despite their appearance the jay is a secretive bird, and can often be found in woodlands.

Jay call

Without the niggling irritation of the cable junction, the t-JAYS Four would have been a great success in design terms – comfortable, light and surprisingly good-looking in action. It’s not a massive complaint, but in the high-competition world of in-ear headphones, small mis-steps can be costly. Trees in both the naturally regenerating woodlands grew rapidly despite large numbers of wild deer in the area, including roe and invasive muntjac, and a series of droughts over the years. Another irruptive species that arrives in the UK for so-called ‘waxwing winters’, when there aren’t enough berries to eat on the continent. Over half of the new trees were oak, says Richard, compared to less than 20% in the neighbouring woodland. “This was almost completely down to jays,” he says. The birds had raided the nearby wood for acorns and buried them in After 59 years, the barley field, called “the old wilderness”, resembled a mature woodland, with 390 trees per hectare of which 52% were oaks. In both cases, jays were the likeliest source of the oak trees, typically carrying acorns to cache for the winter much further than wood mice and grey squirrels.

Hip-hop may be where many listeners find the headset’s Four-té (yeah, we went there). For an in-ear at this price, there’s an impressive amount of punctual force and power down there in the nether regions. Artists like B.I.G. and Jay-Z were wrought with a good deal of gravity, without getting too wild for the lighter treble to handle. Conclusion New tees are here and there is no better way to refresh your warm weather wardrobe! Think oversizedtees and licensedtees like Betty Boop and Lilo & Stitch or Cookie Monster.

Threats and conservation

The t-jays Three are also quite crisp, with a nice amount of focus on the high-mids, allowing a nice treble edge to keep things from getting muddy. Bill Callahan's baritone vocals on "Drover" benefit from this sculpting, helping to add definition to his rich delivery. Guitars and percussion also get an added mid-high presence. On certain mixes, things can sound a bit too bright, but generally speaking, the tweaked high-mids help balance out the intense bass response. The T-Jays 3 is priced at +-70€ and that is a very good price/quality ratio. The Four is priced at +-100€, probably because of the extra Apple controls.

Jays have a wide range in the UK, and their population is expanding north and westwards. However, specific requirements limit suitable habitat availability. The brand's commitment to sustainability and ethical practices further solidifies its position as a leading clothing brand in the industry. By integrating eco-friendly materials and processes into their production, Tee Jays is not only focused on delivering exceptional quality products but also on preserving the environment for future generations. Jays are also excellent mimics, with tawny owls and buzzards among their favourite impersonations. Exactly why they do this is not known, although it’s likely that the larger their repertoire of sounds and tweets, the more attractive they are to potential mates. Similar birds to jays WaxwingSince 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. Treble was mostly very pleasant with a small amount of brightness. Next to the bass, the highs present the most amount of character to the timbre, providing a relaxed tonality with room for details. The texture here is most notable with wind instruments and bells, as they have a certain shine, but never approach that piercing territory. Summary There is also as a result no risk of importing diseases, it’s cost-free and full of wondrous wildlife, such as pollinating insects, wild plants and many birds including garden warblers, yellowhammer and reed bunting. Natural woodland recovery also catches carbon and can help reduce flood risk. It doesn’t work everywhere, but it quite clearly does in so many places and I would love to see this kind of example inspiring more natural regeneration across the country.”
