For reference, here’s a baseline shot, with all the room lights off and almost nothing hitting the sensor. Also, here’s the light with the worst PWM I could find. I’m adding multiple timescales, so it’ll be easier to compare to the test light. Unfortunately, the PWM on this light is so bad that it doesn’t even work with my normal scale, which is 50 microseconds (50us). 10ms. 5ms. 2ms. 1ms. 0.5ms. 0.2ms.In a display faster than 0.2ms or so, the on/off cycle is more than one screen, so it’d just (very incorrectly) look like a flat line. I wrote more about this Ultrafire WF-602C flashlight and explained a little about PWM too. User Interface and Operation On the other side of the light, the head has some cooling fins cut into it, which are identical to those found on the Wurkkos TS10. That’s where the comparisons end, I promise. In another interesting move, the USB-C charging port is on what I consider to be the front of the light, above the make a model markings. The SC32 has a narrow rubber cover for the port, unlike other Sofirms which have a larger square cover. It fits fairly snugly, but is not too difficult to remove when you need to charge. Next to the charging port is a status light which stays on for 5 seconds when you first turn the light on, displaying in green when charge is good, solid red when it’s low, and flashing red when it’s critical. It also flashes red while charging. Super Bright: This LED flashlight is equipped with the SST-40, easily lighting up the path in front of you with significantly improved throw: it delivers a maximum output of 2000lm at a distance of up to 214 meters.

Okay, we all know Sofirn is an OEM factory making lights under their own brand, and making them for other companies (Wurkkos, and masquerading for Astrolux occasionally). Either way, they’re a popular brand. My first unmodified flashlight was a Sofirn SP10S I bought in early 2020, and this is a good illustration of how Sofirn has become firmly entrenched in the flashlight enthusiast’s repertoire. The 6 stepped modes are great – low is low and high is high, and there’s plenty between. If you don’t like stepped, there’s ramping too!! The price is great! Long Review The Big Table Sofirn SP35 (ATR) Flashlight This switch also has indicating features – below it’s seen indicating red for low voltage. Notably, the switch will indicate for 5 seconds after the light is turned on, as follows: If the battery doesn’t have enough power when turn on, the LED indicator will flash red to signal critical power.The threads on this light are very smooth. They’re square-cut, sort of long, anodized, and again… very smooth. Notably, there are two versions – the ATR version, and the older version which doesn’t have thermal regulation.

I compare everything to the KillzoneFlashlights.com 219b BLF-348 because it’s inexpensive and has the best tint! Conclusion What I like Interestingly the Highest of the stepped modes also steps down pretty heavily, again to around 200 lumens. I don’t observe low voltage protection when testing with the bench power, but I’m assured Andúril has it!Type-C charging: With the built-in USB-C charging port, a 18650 cell can be charged inside your light using the included USB Type-A to USB-C cable, freeing you to enjoy your day and being able to charge practically anywhere. Unfortunately, it is important to note that the Sofirn SC32 underperforms by about 25% all around. In reality, the visual difference between 1500 and 2000 lumens is hard to discern, but what’s advertised and how it actually does are different things. Powerful Illumination: With a maximum output of 1300 lumens, this small flashlight delivers a bright beam that illuminates your surroundings with clarity and detail, ensuring excellent visibility in various situations. Maybe mine’s 6500K, but I have to say it’s still a clean beam and doesn’t feel so much like 6500K. Warmer than 6500K. The Sofirn SP35 flashlight is now available with advanced temperature regulation (ATR). Read on for testing on this high output flashlight!

Medium was about as exciting as a game of Bingo at the local grange hall. Medium doesn’t fall under a regulated mode at 740 mA, so it’s still running on a MOSFET or some other regulator using PWM. The test started at 305 Lumens, and that didn’t change much, with gradual decreases in output as the battery drained. The output didn’t drop below 200 Lumens until 3 hours and 5 minutes in, then down to 150 Lumens by 4 hours 20 minutes, and under 100 Lumens by 5 hours 2 minutes. The output dropped to 72 Lumens before dropping off the scale at 5 hours 24 minutes. Sofirn’s wayyyy off here with their 7.5 hour runtime, but this is still a good figure. The light never got over 40 C the entire runtime. Yes. The LED indicators in the side switch will flash red rapidly, and when the battery hits 3 volts, the light steps down to a very low level. After a while, the light will shut down. What does that mean though? It means that the light thinks my room temperature is 14°C or 41°C. That’s far (or very far) off – my room temperature is around 22°C. It also means that there’s only a tiny window of operation before the light hits the thermal ceiling as programmed (probably 50°C but I’m not sure). User-Friendly Operation: The SC32 HCRI features a convenient tail e-switch that enables easy access to different lighting modes and allows for seamless operation, making it intuitive and hassle-free to use. Yes, this is documented in the manual, and if I had sat down and read the whole thing before taking the light out of the box, I would’ve expected that, but this is not intuitive. Sure, there are other lights where turbo is part of the main group or you have to hold for off, but not being able to turn the light off directly from turbo is very unusual.
