GAMSAT Blog From comprehensive guides to each section to advice and revision tips, we’ve got you covered in our GAMSAT articles. Free Applying for Vet School Course Free online course with support for choosing the right school UCAS application advice, and interview prep materials We are aware that sometimes tests fall during school half terms which vary by region each year. Unfortunately due to the tight timeframes for processing applications, it is not possible to avoid this but we hope that by giving considerable notice of test dates, schools will be able to make plans for their students to sit tests either at their school or at an alternative test centre and candidates will make sure they are available to take the necessary test(s).

Free Applying for Dentistry Course Free online course with support for choosing the right school, UCAT revision, and interview prep materials The first TSA was sat in 2001 at the University of Cambridge for various undergraduate degrees. In 2005, a study was published in relation to the development and reliability of the TSA as an admissions test, which concluded that the exam was “reasonably reliable” for its use. It seems the early years of this TSA were very experimental, as many types of multiple-choice questions are mentioned, with Critical Thinking and Problem Solving being highlighted among these. Of course, these are the two topics that are covered in the TSA today. The Thinking Skills Assessment practice consists of the two elements of the Thinking Skills Assessment.

With Section 2 past papers, it is best to do them to time, as writing a coherent essay in 30 minutes is a skill that needs to be developed. However, if you’re unfamiliar with writing essays, which applicants who have not done essay based A-levels may be, you can allow yourself longer on the first couple of attempts to get yourself used to extended writing again. It’s a good idea to handwrite your essays as you’ll be handwriting them in the exam. There is also a limit of 2 sides of A4 , so do not exceed this in any of your practice essays! Your test centre will be able to apply for access arrangements for you if you have a permanent or long-term disability which might affect your performance such as a sight impairment, dyslexia or cerebral palsy. You may also be eligible for access arrangements if you have a short-term difficulty, such as a broken arm.

Section 2 of the TSA test is a writing task. You will have 30 minutes to write a single short essay. There will be a choice of four essay questions, on general subjects that do not require any specialised knowledge.
