The sleek production of the scripted scenes in The Quest offer a more immersive viewing experience than other reality shows. This is a treat for viewers who might want to follow the plot after seeing a battle end in a magical showdown at the start of the first episode. But the teens who enter the show after the deftly acted scenes can't really hold a candle to the scripted players who inhabit their roles so wholly. In that regard, the reality part of the show can be jarring and amateurish in comparison.

It was great fun and everyone enjoyed it! What a fun way to see the sights! Could not recommend this enough. I just love Maz Evans' sense of humour, it's sometimes toilet-based, breezy and chatty, and made me smile. Some very silly villainry, but just perfect for the age group. A great way to become familiar with Greek mythology, and an affecting story with Elliott and his family, some revelations in this story that leave you wanting to read the next instalment. Following almost directly on from 'Who Let the Gods Out', this needs to be read in sequence really to make sense of both plot and characters. It takes in an absolutely stonking scene with the Royal Family, a tour of the Greek myths and characters, a teaming up of two of Elliott's 'enemies' from the first book, both out to get him. The characters are so realistic that I desperately want a night out with them for a laugh and the dialogue and writing are, as always, just downright hilarious. My husband couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me when I couldn’t stop laughing at the constant gate references and I think the banter and interaction between Elliot and Virgo is just perfect. Familiar characters return and a couple of new ones appear that will really throw a spanner in the works while making the story a whole lot more interesting, if that’s even possible.
