If organization is your thing, then the Real Avid Smart Mat is a great tool, and you certainly won’t regret having it in your range bag. What we like:Overall this is a great large sized mat that will keep your gun safe while you clean. Any oils, lubricants, or solvents you may spill will be easy to wipe up, and you won’t be damaging any of your worktops! If you’re going to charge significantly more than your competition you better have a few features that they don’t. Well that wasn’t lost on Sage & Braker when they designed this gun cleaning mat. Falko Tactical has been producing some great quality gun cleaning and maintenance tools for a while. They pride themselves on creating products that are easy to use and do a damn good job. It isn’t the widest mat on the list, but if you work on a smaller table or space is an issue, then this will do the perfect job. If you do end up spilling anything, it will just bead up, and you can wipe it away with paper towels or a rag.
That’s the biggest reason why gun cleaning mats are designed using special materials. When your gun cleaning solvent touches a gun mat it’s engineered to not seep into the material. Instead, it will just lay on the surface, giving you an easy opportunity to clean it up. Like we mentioned above, there is nothing more frustrating than opening your gun cleaning kit just to find your oil-soaked mat got everything dirty. Well that was exactly the problem Rangetechnic set out to solve when they came out with their gun cleaning mat. The last thing you want is to store an oil-soaked mat in your gun cleaning box. Cerus Gear uses a process called dye sublimation printing for our rifle and pistol cleaning mats. Which means the image is permanently embedded into the top layer of the maintenance mat. First, they are going to keep you from making a mess – or at the very least they’re going to keep the mess contained. The gun cleaning mats should have been designed so that any CLP or solvent spills aren’t going to soak into your workbench or end up on the floor. Additionally, keep in mind that some materials (such as neoprene) can have an adverse effect on certain firearm finishes, so always make sure you’re using the correct type of mat for your specific needs.

Overall this is probably the best gun cleaning mat that we could find specifically for the AR 15. The graphics are a nice touch, but what we really liked about it was it’s practical construction. These items normally require Identification (Passport) or a Firearms / Shotgun Certificate before they are handed over. Shotguns, Rifles, Airguns and Moderators are usually good examples. When purchasing a 'collection only' item you are in effect paying a deposit for your goods. In all instances you can choose to collect your item from one of our stores (Exeter, Dorset or Newport) or from a 3rd party gun dealer. The latter may be at an additional cost to yourself. This is a gun mat made by Cerus Gear with a schematic for the Sig Sauer P320. It is 12″x17″ in size and is charcoal gray in color with Cerus blue accents.
