About this deal

We love Aubiose here at KW Equestrian and highly recommend it. We’ve had our whole yard on Aubiose for nearly a year now, and wouldn’t change it for the world.

Another useful and interestingfact about hemp is that itis apparently not liked so much by slugs and snailsbut is favourable to earthworms so if you already have a compost heap or an outdoor compost bin, this could work really well for you. When NOT to use hemp bedding However, hemp does have good thermal properties so it is a really good option for outdoor guinea pigs with the addition of hay for sleeping areas. The actual hemp bedding itself doesn’t have any smell and the odour control for this substrate is excellent. In fact we found that after a whole week with just spot cleans where they pee and poop the most, the cage did not smell at all. The reason I 'bed up' over mats is that when I tried the minimal bedding system with the mats my horses and their rugs were just AWFUL every morning; the horses were effectively laying down in their own faeces and it showed (and stunk.) The rugs and horses were caked in dried dung every morning and the stable stains were absolutely outstanding!! Not nice. I now bed up the rear 2/3 of my stable and am happy to have the bare mats at the front where my horse stands to eat from his Haybar and look over his door as they are warmer and kinder for his legs to stand on. Many people in the UK refer to this type of bedding as “Aubiose”.This is actually the name of one of the brandsand Aubiose isgrown in France. However, there are several other brands of hemp bedding that are also available to buy in the UK and some of which are grown over here in the UK too. Here are some of your options:natural, organically cultivated hemp Waste management is high on the list of priorities to protect our environment and Aubiose contributes greatly to the environment as it completes it's own 'life cycle loop' naturally.

Premium Bedding: Our top-quality hemp bedding is purely grown with regenerative agriculture methods; No chemicals added; Ultra soft litter with minimal dust levels compared to pine and aspen shavings; Keep your animals comfortable and clean I used 6 bags of Aubiose to set my initial bed over the mats; a 5" depth with moderate banks along the 3 wall sides. My stable is relatively small at 11x11ft square appx. Maybe add an extra bag if your stable is a standard 12x12" or a bit bigger. Because of the absence of chemicals used in the growing process hemp is a very safe bedding to use in your guinea pigs’ cage. And unlike some woods such as cedar and pine, there are no aromatic oils which are harmful to guinea pigs. When respiratory health is a priority, Elite Dream Bedding Shavings are a dust extracted flake which provides less inhalation pollution for both you and your horse. Bliss Bedding is a eucalyptus horse shaving which is ideal for horses that have COPD or any other respiratory issues. Not only are Bliss Shavings dust extracted, but they are also treated with a stable guard disinfectant which helps to keep your stable feeling fresh. Derived from the soft core of the hemp plant, the superior quality remains consistent and there is always a ready supply.About Us: The ChanvraPet product is the work of master hemp farmers who have been growing hemp since the 1970s despite the availability of competitive synthetic products; Today, local feed stores have increasingly chosen and preferred hemp bedding As to your half and half bed, I wouldn't. The absorbtion characteristics are too different. I would use your shavings for the banks if you don't want to waste them completely. Aubiose is a completely different type of bedding and should provide you with savings in time and labour if it is managed properly. The bedding works by soaking up liquids in a small area, at the base of the bed. The capped layer that forms over this saturated material reduces the chance of wet bedding being mixed in with the dry. The top layer of the bed remains warm, soft and dry for the horse. I deep littered him, just removing the droppings for 10 days, during which the bed remained dry, clean and settled with no shifting. On the 10th day I lifted the bed to remove the wet bedding and was really surprised just how easily this was done – the dry bedding had not mixed with the wet bedding at all and I could remove the wet bedding without contaminating or wasting any of the dry bedding. There was hardly any waste at all – I only removed one barrow of waste – much less than I was removing on a daily basis before. The wet bedding tends to clump together rather than spreading and this makes spot cleaning much easier. How often does hemp bedding need cleaning out?

Year Supply: Our 44lb bale presentation should last close to a year in an average-sized coop; We recommend the deep litter method, which allows for less frequent thorough coop cleanouts Currently on small flake shavings with wood pellets underneath his wee patch. He has a 6" deep bed with mats at the front and underneath the right of his bed. 12x12 stable. When I dig out, I take out the left side of the bed move the bedding from the right (including banks) over to the left to go on top of fresh pellets, and put the new shavings in on the right. We've both been v.happy with this arrangement but lately his stable seems to be getting v.dusty. Horse has dust allergy, so not ideal. I work fulltime and the time saving benefit is amazing, and Aubiose has actually worked out very cost effective. So, in addition to the hemp bedding, we recommend you add hay to your guinea pighideouts so they have a nice cosy and soft place to rest.We recommend Glebe Farm hay which is organic and can be used as feeding and bedding hay.The ChanvraPet Hemp Mat is a nesting medium made from the hemp fibers of the Aubiose hemp. The fibers (which are the outer layer of the hemp stem) behave differently than the pure hemp hurds in our Aubiose hemp (which is the inner core of the hemp stem). Using these mats together with your Aubiose hemp is a good combination, particularly for nesting animals, like rats, who can use the hemp fibers to make nests. Many of the nesting materials on the market are made from toxic materials, but with ChanvraPet’s hemp mat you know that your pets have a safe material to sleep on and make nests; as you know, our hemp is grown to the highest standards of ecological quality in the world, using no chemicals. And if your rat accidentally swallows pieces of the mat, it is safe for them.
