About this deal

Although he means well his desire in chasing fame, wealth and status dominates his life and purpose which was sad to read as he doesn't necessarily present himself that way in his stand up. Written during lockdown, Michael McIntyre's autobiography picks up where his last one left off; just on the cusp of being catapulted into stardom. I’m a huge fan anyway and was fascinated reading about his road to success as well as gaining an insight into Michael, the family man. I am biased because I absolutely love Michael, I laughed out loud many times reading this and honestly I was shocked at how much he struggled over the years with money and his rise to the top.

Regardless, it’s a very well written memoir; funny, of course, but also very poignant in places too. What I soon discovered when reading “A Funny Life (The Autobiography)” is that it’s not THE autobiography, but AN autobiography. During the coronavirus lockdown he created and hosted a new game show, The Wheel , which once again pulled in millions of viewers. He deserves every bit of success that he worked so hard for and it was fab to hear more of his story! It’s all here, from his disastrous panel show appearances to his hit TV shows, from mistakenly thinking he’d be a good chat show host and talent judge, to finding fame and fortune beyond his wildest dreams and becoming the biggest-selling comedian in the world.Michael has had a silly life, a stressful life, sometimes a moving and touching life, but always a funny life. If you liked the first book, you'll definitely love this too - life, love and laughs with Britain's best-loved comedian. I downloaded this as an audible book (which McIntyre narrated himself) and found it to be a really enjoyable experience where the comedic timing shone through!

There are so many anecdotes and stories but also private details of his earlier debt, the problems encountered with moving house and more. His observations of every day life and all it's quirks are what makes him so funny because he relates to all of us in some way. His audiobook, A Funny Life, is the perfect light, warm and funny read to get you through a dark wintery patch and honestly feels like you're just sitting down for a chat with an old friend.Waking up the next morning in the tiny rented flat he shared with his wife Kitty and their one-year-old son, he was beyond excited about the new glamorous world of show business. In A Funny Life -Michael McIntyre's second autobiography, released in 2021- the superstar comedian shares his incredible journey through fame since his big break at the 2006 Royal Variety Performance.
