There is so much I loved — stony Wolf and her resilience, the quiet small acts of kindness between Mina and the Witch as they try and find a way to be, the mystery of the castle. If you’re looking for a captivating, fairytale story, Bitterthorn is an absolute must read and has such a stunning cover. So when the Witch demands her next companion, Mina offers herself up - though she has no idea what fate awaits her.Her mother died when she was twelve, her stepmother wishes she just weren't here and her dad doesn't have time for her. I say this because it is both very rare for me to read almost an entire book in a single day and to cry whilst reading, but this is what happened with Bitterthorn. How are you going to give this grand declaration of love after the Witch communicated her fear that she was too much of a monster to love, and then turn around and RUN AWAY when you learn the truth.

And when Mina is given the chance, she jumps to join the Witch before she is pushed into an even lonelier life.Talking about better; in the beginning of the book, I really hoped that the housekeeper whose name is Wolf will turn out to be a real wolf and that the servants turn into wild animals at night, but alas, there was actually a village. I don't care about the characters, the plot is unclear, and some of the writing is a bit too over the top for my tastes. I would definitely recommend reading it and forming your own opinion - reading is highly subjective and I'm confident that a three-four star read for me can easily be a five star read for others! The story is filled with brilliant descriptions - I have a clear image of Mina, the witch, and the cold, stone castle in my mind.
