Ich habe aber auch als Erwachsener das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen können weil es mich schon sehr interessiert hat wie es weitergeht mit Evie und den Tieren. It has plenty of fun adventures, self-exploration, as well as lots of important teachings about humans in general, that Matt Haig shares with his young readers.

Das Ende spitzt sich dafür sehr dramatisch zu und ist schon etwas heftig für ein Kinderbuch ab 9 Jahren. The message is simple and clear for all audiences but the writing is pretty basic, more so than in his other children's books. Na die dag zijn alle dieren in de stad in gevaar, maar niet alleen de dieren, ook de vader van Eefje.

This has really got everything, a kind girl, lost her Mum from an early age, has a talent for talking to animals which she is told to keep hidden but that eventually gets her into trouble. Das funktioniert so lange gut, bis alles durch eine riskante Begegnung mit einem Löwen aus dem Ruder läuft.
