About this deal

Have you ever had one of those moments where you just sit back, stare off into space, and wonder to yourself, how did I end up here? It isn’t clear what happened to the protagonist whether he was caught or whether like Helen he worked his way up to murder. Now I am going to go take a scalding hot shower to wash away my sins for reading this book and maybe have a salad afterwards. Dead Inside is THE most unsettling, disturbing, and outrageous book I have ever (or will ever) read. It's like trying to assign a rating to some bloke breaking into your backyard while you're having a barbecue with your mates and throwing a live iguana on the grill – you can't look away, and you probably feel guilty for enjoying it.

like, “why are you eating that dead baby,” or “what the fuck is going on here,” or “don’t you at least want some sauce to dip that in, or something. The relationship between the two main characters is fascinating and horrifying, and yet the author employs dry humor that will not fail to make the reader laugh wryly (well, I did) .He manages to lace a layer of pleasure into his reading that really fits the main character almost too well, and that’s definitely what you want with an Audiobook. he doesn’t report her to the authorities and they obviously strike up a very weird kinship, because they’re both fucking psychotic. The whole story kind of feels like it has a veil of thirteen year old goth edge to it, but I’d say that’s intentional because the character narrating is one of these “strange and unusual” types who doesn’t have much in the way of social skills, after all, he doesn’t usually have to woo his ladies. I feel like all the blood in my body has rushed into my groin, and there’s an undeniable magnetism between our genitalia, pulling me toward her, beckoning me into her.

He makes the reader aware of how people who are different from the rest of us feel, if indeed they feel anything. Those are the questions that are swimming through the greymatter within my skull after having just finished reading DEAD INSIDE by Chandler Morrison. When the two of them meet, they embark on a journey of self-discovery as they shatter societal norms while engaging in destructive and abhorrent behavior. In this bleak and disturbingly erotic debut novel, iconoclast Chandler Morrison provides readers with a dark exploration of the nature of death, individuality, and generational identity. This, in turn opens the door to reflections of the legitimacy of legal crimes involving dead bodies such as desecration, necrophilia or even cannibalism.Besides that, as a metalhead, I did enjoy the Cannibal Corpse (fitting) reference as I love that death metal band. All of that said, something about the detached and repetitive nature of the narrative voice made even the most disgusting and graphic scene in this book fall short of actually affecting me. If anything on this list triggers you or would make you feel uncomfortable at all, whatever you do, please do not read this book. I feel bad giving this such a harsh review, but I have to say my piece: the main character is so focused on being as much of an antisocial edgelord as he possibly can be, it overshadows the gruesomeness of the entire plot. These two social outcasts’ lives intertwine taking their personal perversions to all new, unfathomable levels of extreme.

I found myself skimming over some of the more detailed accounts of specific actions, just to get to the parts where the characters were having a dialog about their feelings or the story had progressed past points of discomfort and I wanted to see what was going to happen. The Narration is performed by Daniel Caravetta and at first I found it kind of annoying (sorry Daniel) but then I noticed something about the way he reads this story.Morrison doesn’t hold back from the messy details in any way, so this isn’t a book I’d recommend to anyone who isn’t already accustomed to extreme horror.

The book is extremely well written, and I would love to get into his author's mind, on how he came up with this idea for a book. I spread her legs a little wider and mount her, groaning as I slide myself into the cold dryness of her unlubricated vaginal canal. She’s a true romantic at heart who yearns for someone to understand her, with the only problem being MC not really wanting that kind of intimacy, let alone with someone who lives.
