About this deal
Evangeline tries to get Chaos to change Jacks’s mind, but he, too, thinks it’s best for Jacks to let her go. But now she wondered if love was more like a war with new foes constantly appearing and battles creeping up.
I know some of you love the writing in it, and I won't deny it was better than the first book but it still came across as ordinary. oh oh and then also jacks jumping off a cliff with evangeline and dragging her out of the ocean stubbornly saying "I will not let you die", this boy is so obviously in love. his actions near the end show us how deeply he cares for evangeline, but he refuses to be that transparent with her. ALSO NOT CHAOS KILLING EVANGELINE🤡🤡 it was an accident but still😭) thank god marisol was barely in here.
She doesn’t know who he is, but he soothes her, holds her close, and assures her all is well, she is safe, he is here, and he will never let her go. She is interrupted by the old librarian who showed her this place, and he tells her she must hurry and find the four missing pieces of the arch, the four stones: one for luck, one for truth, one for mirth, and one for youth, so the arch can be opened. If she tells him she loves him, he might be willing to try instead of going back to Donatella, and perhaps Honora will be able to reverse not only Apollo’s curse but Jacks’s, too.
Jacks intends to use them to go back to the moment he met Donatella, the first girl who was immune to his lethal kiss and made his heartbeat. The highlight of this book and what makes it such an addicting read is Evangeline and Jacks’ relationship. The secondary characters are also well-penned and enhance the overall story, contributing to the plot in meaningful ways.they are wild, feral, reckless things that need to be constantly chased, or they will certainly run away. Behind it, there’s something Jacks wants, and although he has made Evangeline believe he cares about her in the past, she has recently realized she is nothing but a key to that Arch to Jacks. and beyond that, it’s such a beautiful thing to see little fragments of yourself in the characters you love. Everything was fuzzy and distant, but she knew, somehow, that these arms held her closer than the hot arms ever had. This sequel to Once Upon a Broken Heart surpassed all my expectations and I ended up reading it in one sitting.
