Tameside Sight is a registered charity that has been supporting visually impaired people in Tameside since 1975 and was previously known as Tameside Blind Association.
The Charity operates a Community Support Project providing practical services to anyone in Tameside with a sight loss, awards a small number of financial grants for specialist equipment and also supports various social clubs.
Tameside Sight works in partnership with other agencies in the area including hospitals, doctors, council services, other voluntary groups and with national organisations supporting visually impaired people.
A committee of volunteer trustees, who are elected by members at the Charity’s Annual General Meeting, steer the organisation.
The day-to-day operations are conducted by the Support Project staff.
There are two permanent employees who work with a team of trained volunteers to provide support and information.
